Inbox and notifications

Where your tasks and notices arrive, what the platform emails you about, and how to turn email off.

Part of every platformThis has no switch. Every organisation has it.

Your inbox collects the things that need your attention and the notices the platform sends you. Most also arrive by email. The inbox keeps its own copy, so you can turn email off and still see every platform notice.

Where to find it

Inbox in the menu, and in the bottom bar on a phone. It is always there.

Your inbox

The inbox has two tabs, To Do and Completed, each with a count. Every item shows what kind of item it is, a title, a short description, a link where there is one, and a due or completed date.

Press Mark Complete when you have dealt with something, and it moves to Completed. If you ticked it off by mistake, Reopen moves it back to To Do. You can only change your own items.

Tasks can come from elsewhere in the platform. Each one lands in your inbox and, unless you have turned email off, in your email too.

What you are notified about

The platform tells you about things that concern you. Depending on what your employer has switched on, that includes:

  • a new announcement aimed at you
  • a new company event aimed at you
  • your Total Reward statement being published
  • a decision on your leave request or cancellation request, with the reason if it was declined
  • your timesheet being approved, returned with a note, or reopened
  • new tasks in your inbox

If you manage people, you also hear when one of your team requests leave, asks to cancel it, or records sickness. Project leads hear when a timesheet is submitted to them.

Some things are deliberately silent. Cancelling your own pending leave request notifies nobody. Company closure days, and HR excusing you from one, send nothing.

When emails arrive

Emails go out in batches every fifteen minutes, so expect a short delay after something happens. Each one is sent once.

Turn email off

Go to Settings and switch off Email notifications. The same switch is on the Preferences tab of My Profile. Everything keeps arriving in your inbox and your feed; only the emails stop. Switch it back on at any time.

Your wellbeing check-in has its own messages, which are explained in the wellbeing section.
